CD Projekt RED to start developing new games in The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 universe in 2022
In an interview with the Polish edition Rzeczpospolit, CEO CD Projekt Adam Kichinski shared that the firm has gigantic intentions for The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 franchises.
In 2022, the company plans to start developing two games in parallel in these universes. We are not talking about mobile or small games, but full-fledged AAA projects.
“Right now we are focusing on our two franchises. Both have great potential, so one of our strategic goals — start two AAA projects on these IPs, which is expected to happen next year.”
The intentions sound very arrogant. Taking into account, in fact, that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 at one time also wanted to create in parallel, but it did not work out. However, since then the company has grown, and is currently expanding the staff. Probably, this time the chance for parallel development is higher.
But don't forget that the company also has a large-scale addition for Cyberpunk 2077, which was promised even before the release.
As a reminder, the updated version of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 and Xbox Series S|X will be released in the first quarter of 2022, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — in the second quarter of 22.
