Many PC players consider Gabe Newell to be the real savior of the PC platform: it was thanks to his Steam store that the PC market got rid of physical copies of games as such, and many players joined to the culture of shopping - this was largely facilitated by the presence of regional prices on Steam, which was not the case, for example, on consoles. In addition, Valve and Gabe Newell had a hand in the creation of such cult franchises as: Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Dota 2.
