
New details about Metro Exodus
Last November, 4A Games revealed the roadmap for the Metro series and confirmed that Metro Exodus will be released on PlayStation 5 and ;Xbox Series X | S in 2021 as a free update to take full advantage of these new consoles.
Today, the team shared more details and announced that Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and PC version will be released later this year.
- For consoles Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 will be a radical overhaul of the proprietary 4A engine and full ray tracing.
- The team has created an all-new full-ray tracing lighting pipeline that brings a number of optimizations, updates and new features to ray-traced global illumination and emission lighting, as well as an updated implementation of powerful temporal reconstruction technology to further enhance resolution, visual detail and performance.
- Metro Exodus will run at 4K / 60fps with full ray-traced lighting on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The base game and DLC will include both ray-traced global illumination (RTGI) technology and innovative ray-traced emissive lighting techniques in the Two Colonels expansion. - Next-gen consoles will benefit from significantly reduced load times through the use of an SSD, boast 4K texture packs and a number of platform-specific features, including spatial audio and controller latency improvements on Xbox, as well as support for PlayStation 5 controller haptics Dual Sense
- On Xbox Series S the game will run at 1080p with full ray-traced lighting.
- The authors are working on additional polish and quality of life improvements, including the ability to change the field of view for the first time in a Metro game.
- Console versions will be released later this year and will be available as a free update to all current owners.
- Players on PC will also benefit from the new full ray tracing lighting pipeline.
- The update is so extensive that it will require a ray-traced GPU as a minimum specification and will ship as a standalone game rather than a patch for an existing game Metro Exodus .
- The PC version Enhanced Edition will offer additional ray tracing features, including Advanced Ray Traced Reflections and DLSS 2.0 support on NVIDIA hardware, which provides sharper image detail as well as higher frame rates and screen resolution.
- PC Extended Edition will free to all owners of Metro Exodus in Epic Games Store , Steam and GoG. You can expect the PC Enhanced Edition to come out this spring.
