The official announcement of Mass Effect: BioWare is working on an updated edition of the trilogy

It couldn't have been a secret for long.  Mass Effect Legendary Edition has been officially announced. This was reported by the developers from the Studio  BioWare:

We've heard (for years!) your requests for a Mass Effect remaster, so we're thrilled to finally announce that we're working on a remastered edition of the Mass Effect trilogy.

For many months, our team at BioWare has been hard at work updating textures, shaders, models, effects, and specs for three huge games.

Our goal was not to remake or rethink the original games, but to modernize the gameplay so that fans and new players can experience the original work at its best.

It was amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard taken to new life in ultra-clear resolution, higher frame rates and beautiful visual enhancements.

As game developers, we always hope that our games will go beyond their original platforms.

Being able to remake the trilogy means that the fruits of our decades of work will live on and feel better and clearer than ever before.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include base single player content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, as well as promotional weapons, armor and sets, all remastered and optimized for 4k Ultra HD.

It will be available in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC with forward compatibility and targeted enhancements for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
