Console users can play Mortal Kombat with each other thanks to the "Kross Generation" feature
Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S alongside Kombat Pack 2, which features Rain, Mylenna, and Rambo. Netherrealm has now announced that with November 17, when the next gen update for current system owners takes place, all Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to battle each other regardless of what console they are in.
They promise that on this day Kross Play withKross Generation will fade. This means that if you have the game on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, or Xbox One, you will be able to take on players on all of those other systems. Casual matches and "certain online rooms" will allow full cross-console battles between generations.
RetailMortal Kombat 11 Ultimatewill not release until January, but will be available digitally starting November 17th. If you have a game on a previous system in the same console family, you can upgrade for free, but you'll still need to buy any DLC you don't have.
