A fan of GTA Online has found a way to reduce the load time of the game

An enthusiast named T0ST decided to optimize the game herself. He said that he was able to reduce the loading time of GTA Online by almost 70%.

 

As it turned out, the matter is in the banal absence of the process — during loading, the game was needlessly loading the processor with a meaningless task, due to which loading times could exceed ten minutes. 

 

In a nutshell, GTA Online double-checked 63,000 items every time it was loaded, which resulted in about 2 billion operations. Pointless operations. And with each content expansion, the number of elements only increased. For the sake of experiment, the enthusiast created his own optimized DLLs and replaced the original ones with them. As a result, GTA Online loading times were reduced by almost 70%. If earlier the game took about six minutes to load, then after the experiment it began to load in one minute and 50 seconds.

 

According to the enthusiast's calculations, it will take no more than a working day for one specialist to solve the problem. How realistic this is, we will not know, but Rockstar confirmed the study of the player only two weeks later.
