Removing Denuvo from The Callisto Protocol increased the minimum FPS by 22% and reduced the number of stutters
Last night, a small patch was released for the survival horror game The Callisto Protocol, which removed Denuvo anti-piracy protection from the game. The DSOGaming portal decided to test the game without protection and was once again convinced that Denuvo really reduces performance and loads the processor.
The game was tested on a PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32 GB of DDR5 memory with a frequency of 6000 MHz and a video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. The game was set to maximum settings with ray tracing and 1080p resolution. According to tests, after removing Denuvo, the minimum frame rate in The Callisto Protocol increased by 22%: from 80 frames per second to 98. However, the average frame rate remained the same (120 frames per second). The tester also noted a decrease in the number of stutters. The game no longer maxes out one CPU core/thread, but instead uses 4-5 threads.
The Callisto Protocol takes place 300 years in the future. The player will take on the role of Jacob Lee - a hostage of fate, thrown into the maximum security prison "Black Iron" on the moon of Jupiter, Callisto. When prisoners begin to turn into monsters, the prison is consumed by chaos. To survive, Jacob must escape from prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets hidden deep beneath Callisto's surface.
