The final patch for Final Fantasy 14 is set to release on April 13th, ending the pre-Endwalker story
The patch was previously announced at a Final Fantasy 14 demo where CEO Yosuke Matsuda "accidentally" revealed the release date of the patch, but without further details.
Patch 5.5, titled Death Unto Dawn, will be split into two parts, with the second half coming in May. Two parts of patch 5.5 will feature new main scenario quests, tying in the Shadowbringers storyline and paving the way for the release of Endbringer sometime this fall. The first half also brings the third chapter of the Nier crossover alliance raid, YorHa: Dark Apocalypse.
New tests are also on the way. The Cloud Deck Trial will introduce Diamond Weapons available in both Normal and Extreme difficulty. There is also a new version of the Unreal Trial, although we don't know which of the main ones will be presented this time.
The main story quests will allow you to break into the Paglth'an dungeon, which can be completed in a group or using the trust system. In the game, all level 70 dungeons will be available in explorer mode, allowing players to dive into the instance without enemies. You'll also be able to select the desired instrument in explorer mode, thanks to the added ability to use actions to perform. You'll also be able to change instruments at any time during the performance, with a mysterious new musical contraption along the way.
Questline "Sorrow" or "Verlit" and "Rescue the Queen" is being updated, as well as a new zone called "Zadnor". Relic weapons are also getting the latest updates, likely increasing the item level cap. There will also be some general performance changes, new mounts and new custom deliveries.
Note that this is only for the first part of the 5.5 patch, with more coming in the second part of this year.
