Sony announces Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine

At the next presentation of the PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games studio presented two of its new games in the Marvel universe to the audience at once. The first of them — this is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The plot of the new chapter in the Spider-Man series continues the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who team up to fight crime together on streets of New York.

In the debut trailer, they meet the Venom symbiote, and as the video hints, they will probably have to fight him.

A representative of the development team said that they are working on a completely new, exciting story filled with humor and emotional moments. In addition to new villains, the game will also feature unique superhero abilities and updated costumes.

On the technical side, according to the company's plans, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will make the most of the capabilities of the next generation of consoles.

A large part of the team that developed the first part of the game is involved in the creation of the sequel. The project is led by Game Director Ryan Smith and Creative Director Brian Intihar. Actors Yuri Lowenthal and Naji Jeter will voice the two key characters, and Tony Todd, known from the Candyman film series, will become the voice of Venom.

The first part of the franchise was released in 2018 on the PlayStation 4, and the second — in 2020. Interestingly, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was already made under the direct supervision of PlayStation Studios, which acquired Insomniac Games in 2019.

The second game unveiled during the live PlayStation Showcase caused even more excitement among Marvel fans. This is Marvel's Wolverine, a new chapter in the dark history of Wolverine, and the events of this chapter take place in the same universe as the events of Spider-Man 2. Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who created the Miles Morales.

Players will be able to try on a Spider-Man costume in 2023, but a game about a mutant with adamantium claws is at an early stage of development and even an approximate release date unknown yet.
